If you’re having trouble finding the right therapist abroad, then online counseling may be just what you need. This will allow us to remotely assist you in receiving help for the challenges you or your relationship is experiencing across countries, oceans, continents, and time zones.
How It Works
Expatriate online video counseling sessions will be conducted using Simple Practice, a HIPAA-compliant platform.
Using this software, we can engage in video chat for each of your counseling sessions. The video chat will give you a close experience to an in-person counseling session. Together, we will need to determine if online counseling is the right fit and support for the challenges you currently experience.
Contact us via email if you would like to try online counseling.
Our clinical team at Select Counseling successfully uses Simple Practice to work with clients from all over the world.
How to Prepare
If you are a new patient living abroad and are interested in video-online counseling, contact us to set up a free complimentary 20-minute session to see if video-online counseling is the right fit for your specific situation.
Prior to your session, you will set up your profile in Simple Practice’s client portal. Through the portal, you will also receive a link to join your online counseling session at least 10 minutes prior to the start of your scheduled appointment time.
To have the best experience, you will want to make sure your Internet connection is strong and reliable. To create an experience similar to an in-person session, you will want to find a place that is comfortable and private so you can relax as much as possible and so you can freely express yourself without worrying about who will hear you. Please be aware that even if you are comfortable in your own setting, during our online sessions, drinking alcohol, smoking, or using drugs are not allowed.
Is Online Counseling Right for You?
For many expatriate issues, online counseling is a supportive and highly effective option.
If, however, you are dealing with complex issues such as and not limited to: psychosis, paranoia, domestic violence, current addictions, etc, online counseling may not create a strong enough support system for successfully dealing with your challenges. In these situations, you may want to explore in-person counseling and therapy in your region.
Email us today to see if online counseling is the right fit for your current needs. One of our professional goals is to help expatriates and their families adjust to and thrive in their new lives. Let us help you, too.
