If you’re having trouble finding the right therapist abroad, then online counseling may be just what you need. This will allow us to remotely assist you in receiving help for the challenges you or your relationship is experiencing across countries, oceans, continents, and time zones.
How It Works
Expatriate online video counseling sessions will be conducted using the free version of VSee. This is the world’s largest video telemedicine platform; it provides secure encrypted video that looks superior to other low-bandwidth products, such as Skype. VSee technology uses 50% less bandwidth than Skype resulting in a much better resolution which facilitates detailed facial expressions. One of the most important differences is that VSee is HIPAA-compliant as it is directly encrypted point to point.
Using this software, we can engage in video chat for each of your counseling sessions. The video chat will give you a close experience to an in-person counseling session. Together, we will need to determine if online counseling is the right fit and support for the challenges you currently experience.
Contact us via email if you would like to try online counseling.
VSee is free to use when calling other VSee users directly. Normal session rates will apply and must be paid in USD online prior to your session. You can learn more about how to use Vsee with their free video tutorials. Our Director, Flori, currently successfully uses VSee to work with clients from all over the world.
How to Prepare
If you are a new patient living abroad and are interested in video-online counseling, contact us to set up a free complimentary 20-minute session to see if video-online counseling is the right fit for your specific situation.
Prior to your session, you will want to install the Vsee (free version) software and set up your free account. If possible, test VSee with someone you know prior to your session to get familiar with the software.
To have the best experience, you will want to make sure your Internet connection is strong and reliable. To create an experience similar to an in-person session, you will want to find a place that is comfortable so you can relax as much as possible, and private so you can freely express yourself without worrying about who will hear you. Please be aware that even if you are comfortable in your own setting, during our on-line sessions, drinking alcohol, smoking, or using drugs are not allowed.
Is Online Counseling Right for You?
For many expatriate issues, online counseling is a supportive and highly effective option.
If, however, you are dealing with complex issues such as and not limited to: psychosis, paranoia, domestic violence, current addictions, etc, online counseling may not create a strong enough support system for successfully dealing with your challenges. In these situations, you may want to explore in-person counseling and therapy in your region.
Email us today to see if online counseling is the right fit for your current needs. One of our professional goals is to help expatriates and their families adjust to and thrive in their new lives. Let us help you, too.
